Expect the Unexpected

Today is​​ an interesting sort of day. It has been a few weeks since my last blog and so much has happened. I went on a ministry trip to Grenada to prepare the way for a larger evangelistic mission trip that we are leading in a few weeks. I am so excited for all that God has purposed for Grenada. Seeing God orchestrate things and pull things together never ceases to amaze me. The unexpected divine appointments became a daily occurrence and therefore quite expected. I love the exciting adventure of expecting the unexpected with God. When we were there, we stayed on the YWAM base for a few days. The scenery is breath taking and much to my absolute delight, the mango season had just begun. Right outside the door to our guesthouse was a beautiful mango tree. One morning as I walked back to the guest house I noticed how a mango hung from it’s tree. The way that a mango hangs from the tree on a long stem struck me as rather interesting. It’s out doing it’s thing, ripening but still connected to the source. In that moment the Lord spoke to my heart. My people are like this mango, they need to be out doing what I created them to do but remain connected to not just me as their source but it is imperative that they remain connected to my church, my body. If they loose that connection and fall to the ground, they will rot and the ants will devour them; if they stay hidden in the blossom, they will remain underdeveloped and eventually rot in the pod but, if they spring forth from the pod and hang from the tree as they were created to do, they will ripen from the sun while still receiving nutrients from the source and therefore produce good fruit. Although God calls us to various fields and callings, we must not loose sight of remaining connected to His body. This is the essence of unity in the body. Unity is not everyone doing the same thing, it is everyone fulfilling their purpose and calling as different as it is while remaining connected to one another and therefore loving and supporting each other as we fulfill that which the Lord has called us to do. So my friends as you press into the Lord and walk in your calling, remember to step out in faith but stay connected to your source. God has much for you to accomplish for His glory. Even today, as you make yourself available, he has divine appointments for you. Expect the unexpected as you bask in the Son.
