The Jews are God’s chosen people. They turned away from the Lord and were cut off.  They will return and when they do, it will be like resurrection from the dead.  Paul tells of eight dynamic blessings that belong to Israel. These eight wonders are their inheritance.    ····    One day, they will posses all of them.

Most Christians insist that the Bible is God’s word. Israel’s promised inheritance is clearly stated in the

New Testament as well as in the Old Testament.

Here are Paul’s, New Testament words concerning the Jews.   “Theirs is the adoption of sons; theirs the divine glory, the covenants, the receiving of the law, the temple worship and the promises.  Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of Christ.”     Rom. 9: 4,5

Some (in Error) say that these blessings used to belong to Israel, but that Israel has lost them forever. All seven Bible translations that I use indicate however, that these blessings belong to Israel now. Here are the eight wonders that are promised to Israel.

1. The adoption of sons

2. The divine glory

3. The covenants

4. The receiving of the law

5. The temple worship

6. The promises

7. The patriarchs

8. The human ancestry of Christ

Numerology (study of numbers) is significant in scripture. Five is the number for grace, six, the number of man, seven, the number of perfection and eight is the number for resurrection. Eight is

Israel’s number, for Israel, is the nation that has been resurrected from the dead (after almost 2000 years). The prophecy that continues to foreshadow them is one of resurrection,   “What will their acceptance be, but life from the dead.”   Rom. 11: 15

It is not by chance that eight wonders are recorded in their inheritance list for that is Israel’s number, the number for resurrection. Furthermore, everything that God has promised Israel is included in this list; it is absolutely complete. The Gentile church has been grafted in to receive the spiritual blessings alongside of Israel, yet some of the physical components of the inheritance belong to Israel exclusively.

In 1948 for example, God gave Israel back the first installment of her land. That land does not belong to Gentile Christians. Let us look at the inheritance list.

1. The Adoption of Sons

The spirit of adoption is mentioned five times in the Bible and always in the New Testament. This is a New Covenant doctrine. The Jewish inheritance is found in the New Covenant and not in the Old Covenant alone. All believers, Jews and Gentiles alike, must receive the Spirit of adoption to belong to the family of God. (Rom. 8: 15-17) Jesus was a Jew, sent to redeem those under the law, (Jews) that all of us might receive adoption. (Gal. 4: 4-5) We are predestined to adoption only through Jesus Christ. (Eph.1:5) There is no adoption into sonship, outside of Jesus.

Paul declares that the adoption of sons belongs to the Jews. Gentile Christians are grafted in to receive the blessing as well.   (Rom. 9: 5, 11:17)

2. The Divine Glory

Divine glory is promised to the Jews. This is not earthly fame; it is divine.  The glory of God is the greatness of God. It includes his miraculous power and authority. It is amazing that this blessing can come to any human, but God has declared it. “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you…, his glory appears over you.” Isa. 60:1-3

All God’s people receive his glory and become joint heirs in Christ.

3. The Covenants

To the Jews belong the covenants. The covenants include;

The Abrahamic Covenant

(Gen. 15, 17)

The Mosaic Covenant

(Ex. 19, 24, Dt. 29, Jos. 8)

The Levitical Covenant

(Num. 25 Jer. 33, Mal.2)

The Davidic Covenant

(2Sam. 7, Ps. 89)

and the New Covenant.

(Heb. 8, Heb. 10, Jer. 31)

Many think the Old Covenant is for Jews and the New Covenant is for Gentiles. The New Covenant however, was made for the Jews.

“I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt…, This is the covenant I will make with the house of

Israel.., I will put my laws in their hearts.” Heb. 8: 8-12

When Gentiles are saved, they enter the New Covenant as well.

4. The Receiving of the Law

Gentiles are not required to come under Jewish Law. A book is needed to explain the importance of Jewish Law, it’s fulfillment in Christ and the Jewish mandate to follow it in a New Covenant way. The law gives Jews their identity and calling. In Acts 15 the apostles released Gentiles from following Jewish Law, but Jews were not released. To the Jew belongs the receiving of the law,  (in its New Covenant form – read Hebrews)

5. Temple Worship

To the Jews belong the temple worship. Personal worship is required of all believers, but temple worship is corporate worship. It is the collective worship from God’s united family on earth. The temple of old contained many stations of worship that symbolize the requirements of man’s devotion to God. The Jews are responsible to lead the world in temple worship.

6. The Promises

I believe the promises are those details of the covenants that apply only to Jews. The promises for Israel include;   1. ownership of the land (Gen.15:18),   2. regathering of Jews to their land (Isa.11), 3. restoring their financial fortunes (Zeph. 3: 20),   4. intercessors praying for them (Isa. 62: 6), 5. a Jewish revival (Zech. 12:10, Ro. 11:25-26)    6. glory among the nations (Isa. 60: 1-2)    7. judgment for nations who mistreat Jews. (Joel 3:1-3)

7. The Patriarchs

The patriarchs belong to Israel. Their lineage, stories, teachings, generational and spiritual blessings belong to Jews. That is why the Jews are the natural olive branches. They have received the care and cultivation of the patriarchs. Gentiles receive the blessings of the patriarchs indirectly.

8. The Human Lineage of Christ

This dynamic belongs only to the Jews. God chose this nation. He decided to be born a Jew and in heaven, he is still called the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. Jesus still retains his Jewish identity, they are his chosen people.

Gentile Christians and redeemed Jews are one new man in Christ, but some things belong to the Jews. Pray that Israel receives all of these promises for then we will welcome the return of the king.
